What is A-T?
A-T or ataxia-telangiectasia is a genetically recessive disorder that prevents its victims from adequately defending against oxidative stress, resulting in neuro and immunodegerative disease.
What is oxidative stress?
Oxidative stress is a process the body goes through in the natural course of metabolizing oxygen. When this process gets too far out of balance, harm is done to the DNA and the body's organs. We create energy through burning oxygen causing oxidation. Unchecked oxidation, however, can result in a situation in the body similar to an uncontrolled fire.
What is premature aging?
Most scientists today believe that excess oxidative stress is the cause of aging. Too much uncontrolled oxidative stress in a susceptible organ or in the whole body can cause premature aging, including neurodegeneration and cancer.
How can I stop premature aging?
The best ways to stop premature aging are to fight the causes of oxidative stress including excess calories, emotional stress, radiation, smoking, excess alcohol, air pollution and a sedentary life-style. There are numerous nutritional supplements that also help, plus getting moderate regular exercise and the right amount of sleep.
What is The Longevity Foundation?
The Longevity Foundation was formed to support biomedical research that will lead to practical, near-term preventions and treatments for diseases associated with premature aging.
How can I help?
Become educated about the causes of premature aging and support The Longevity Foundation with your time, effort, and money.
